Binary Capital
Andre Philippides
Binary Capital’s Long/Short Equity fund focuses on developed markets, combining a top-down asset allocation policy with a bottom-up approach to stock picking, allowing us to blend tactical and core investments within a conviction portfolio structure.
The investment process reflects our economic view through stock selection. We typically follow approximately 70 large capitalization stocks and will hold 20 to 40. We add and delete stocks from our coverage when our macroeconomic view or sector allocation changes, or the stock loses favour for company specific reasons. Binary Capital uses various models to forecast future economic changes, allowing us to anticipate future timing within the equity market.
Our managers have a structured investment process and do not deviate from the team’s stock picking strengths. We are prepared to be contrarian. Our thorough risk management process enables us to monitor portfolio risk metrics and ensure that our exposure is in line with our mandate.
